Amy J. Hunsaker is the Digital Initiatives Librarian at the University of Nevada, Reno where she provides leadership in the development and management of digital collections in collaboration with other Library and University departments. Amy earned a Master of Library Science degree from the University of North Texas, and began her professional career managing and creating digital collections at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Previously a musician, Amy is also the Music Subject specialist at UNR and holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from UNLV. She is the Northern Nevada representative for the Digital Public Library of America, and works closely with the Mountain West Digital Library to harvest UNR digital collections through their portal. Amy’s research interests encompass a wide range of topics including 19th century art song, Nevada history, rural libraries and communities, and enhancing the academic student worker experience. Amy lives in Reno because she loves the region and its vibrant history, and she believes that UNR’s holdings are important assets to the State of Nevada and to researchers of Western United States’ history.
