Visualizing the French Empire

This project explores the relative importance of various parts of Europe’s imperial domain—both places within and without the French empire proper—over the critical period 1870 to 1914, by generating heat maps of linguistic interest in various territories, as well as collocation networks and frequency diagrams that illustrate how the French understood their role in empire-building.

Reno Typographic History

A digital archive of Reno’s rich typographic history that traces the Great Basin's changing economic and social makeup, as varying interest and societal groups have used differing typefaces to create their own cultural representation of Reno, its people, and its culture.
